recorder karate

The grade 3s started their recorder karate late last week. Hot Cross Buns is the white belt, first thread tied to the recorder, which he tested right away. Enthusiastically, on Monday after school he went to look for his music teacher again to try and test the second tune. No teacher, no luck. The same was repeated on Tuesday after school. 

On Wednesday he got lucky and lined up among others for testing but the kind but demanding Mr. P sent him back home practicing. So he did. Came Thursday and there he was again after the lessons, waiting patiently for half an hour to try again to achieve his second belt. This time Mr. P had a meeting scheduled and couldn't take them all so after all the waiting a very disappointed fella was sent back home without testing. Oh dear, I thought, how to keep his spirits up. 

But he kept on practicing and on Friday after school I found him again in the testers line.  Out he came with not one but two new colored threads tied around the recorder. And when we reached home he flew the driveway down, took his recorder and music book to our bedroom, closed the door and started practicing the next piece.
