Bridewell Street, Wymondham

The word Bridewell might have romantic overtones to us today but from Medieval times a Bridewell was a prison for petty offenders.  They were still in use in Victorian times as places of correction.  Mostly not nice places at all.

The Wymondham Bridewell is out of shot but the Queen's Head (in cream and blue) dates from the 16th Century.  It has featured here before
