Field trip day 2

Ants are generally excellent photographic subjects, there's usually loads of them so you get several attempts at getting the right shot. These red tree ants apparently have a pretty nasty bite but they were too busy being ant-y to notice me. I took this whilst the pupils were doing macroinvertebrate studies of a river. I felt nicely redundant as they happily got on with finding river crab, larvae and nymphs. The climate here means ecology trips are hugely successful as there's always loads of species everywhere all the year round. Another day of paradise surroundings and thinking 'it can't be right that I'm also getting paid for this..'
