Frosty walk on the Malverns
Sunday
Yesterday we drove down to my sister's near Gloucester. We saw quite a difference in the house since we were there in August. She has had a new shower room put in, and she had re-papered the living/dining room, and had new carpet, making the room appear quite a bit bigger. This morning we went with Janet to church - a little Methodist country chapel, which has been her church home virtually all her adult life, since she got married. Whenever we visit Janet we always have at least one walk on the Malverns, which are quite close to where she lives. It was a bright fairly sunny afternoon, but very cold, as you can judge from the remaining frost or dusting of snow in the foreground. In the evening we were expecting my brother and his wife who were driving down from Sheffield. I was a bit concerned whether they would make it, since the Sheffield area bore the brunt of yesterday's snowfall. Last year they were late joining us, as Peter was ill, and I was afraid history was repeating itself. They called us once they were en route and it didn't sound very hopeful - they were stuck in traffic and hardly moving. Fortunately, however, things improved after a while, and they finally made it!
