Arlington Row
(Back blip)
More touring of very picturesque Cotswold villages today. Aliscotia, Longshadow, Leejohnaire and I had a lovely day wandering, photographing and eating our way around Burford and Bibury. This is a shot of the Arlington Row cottages in Bibury. They were built in 1380 as a monastic wool store. In the seventeenth century, the building was converted into a row of cottages for weavers. It is possibly one of the most photographed scenes in the Cotswold and appears on the new UK passport. It has been used as a film and television location, including in Bridget Jones’s Diary.
The cottages are now owned by the National Trust and are rented out to residents. Leejohnaire has blipped the windowsill decoration of one of them.
