Shanghai
Our final full day in China began with sunshine. The air quality had also improved with the clearing of the smog that had clung to everything yesterday.
After our morning meetings and a working lunch we had time to go to the Old City of Shanghai - the medieval core of the city with its ancient houses and temples and the secret gardens of Yuyuan. It reminded me of walking through a cyclorama of willow pattern plates.
I met this Chinaman in the gardens. He was very happy to pose for me - not that you can tell from this blip. He then insisted that his wife took a photo of us both.
Our hosts gave us a celebratory farewell dinner in a downtown restaurant.
The alarm was set for an early morning departure for the airport.
