Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Eye eye!

Archie has had two big walks today. And by extension - so have I. We’re both tired out and one of us is asleep in bed in the kitchen. While the other will soon be snoozing on the sofa...

Archie slept all evening last night - glad to be home, I think - he even missed out on his tea, which didn’t do him any harm at all. BUT, in the middle of the night he started his nose-in-the-air-sniffing again and not settling. Eventually put the light on - Yes! One eye all weeping and closed up. Again.

Took him to the vet this afternoon - could be an ‘infection’… The vet put green dye in his eye to check if there was an ulcer!!! Didn’t see one. He’s got drops and anti-inflammatory pills and back to the vet on Friday to make sure it’s cleared up and nothing more sinister.  Actually, he was really good in the vet’s - not his usual hysterical barking. I just have to let him meet all the dogs and he’s fine.

The door opened, someone came in with a dog, but not right in, they remained out of sight. But we could hear the dog (at least I presumed it was the dog). It sounded like a braying donkey, only louder. Poor thing - it was only a wee border terrier.

We walked back from the vet’s. In my new shoes, which arrived at last (fourth time lucky).

Out in the Meadows this morning too. So lovely in the sunshine. We began to hear music in the distance. Accordion music. It was Adamo again. I veered off to avoid him. He hadn’t emailed me to thank me for the dozen or so photos I sent to him, and I didn’t want to embarrass him. He probably thought he’d never see me again, but as a dog walker, living in the area, I’m bound to be in the Meadows more than once…

Took my wee old Canon compact out this morning to stuff in my pocket. Forget how to do the settings…  and much of the time I couldn’t see what I was aiming at it was so sunny and bright. The lens, I noted,  is a bit scratched… Hmmm - may need a new one…

Archie was somewhat over-awed by this size and cleanliness of this chap. So was I.

This is Archie’s good eye side...
