London morning

We'd just had a coffee on The Strand and we approached Trafalgar Square from the South. The sun was casting a special light on the stone of The National Gallery and it looked stunning.

We were on our way to the Rubens exhibition at the Royal Academy. It was excellent and I realised that he was more than just a painter of fleshy and rounded women. He made a profound impression on the likes of Turner and Constable too.

Fish and chips for lunch - and then shopping. My kind of weekend.

Yesterday my friend arrived in plenty of time and Jonas Kaufmann was wonderful as Andrea Chenier at Covent Garden. Your crossed fingers and good wishes worked. Thank you.

And tonight it's the turn of James McAvoy !!!! Plenty to appreciate there I hope :-)
