A bit of sun on yer back
I started sorting out the photos from today ages ago but I fell asleep - soz (as you young folk say).
Operation Stack is still in place and Kent is grinding to a halt. 20 miles of tailbacks on the M20 at one point. For those not familiar with this scheme lanes 1 and 2 are used as a lorry park, nose to tail for miles, with lane 3 as a running lane. Further down the motorway is closed completely. The county goes from having more motorways than most to having a road network akin to Norfolk. Clearly the good folk of Norfolk are cool with A roads but they don't have the volume of heavy goods vehicles heading for the continent that Kent does. Our Police & Crime Commissioner, Anne Barnes, is having a lot off because she believes the constabulary are wasting time "baby-sitting" lorry drivers when they should be out feeling a few collars. A top cop was on the local BBC news this evening (I don't trust ITV news - I think they make it up) and he said that it'll be sorted by Sunday.
They will have to make sure it doesn't happen again before May because all roads will be leading to South Thanet. Actually they don't; the M20 runs out at Folkestone and then it's pretty fast to Dover and becomes bimbly (but beautiful) as it heads past Sandwich towards Ramsgate. The M2 looks better on a map but at Brenley Corner it becomes the Thanet Way and is fast(ish) towards Thanet Earth (largest greenhouse complex in the UK) and then slows down towards Manston and Ramsgate. Either way all the major political parties will be whizzing down there as often as possible now that Al Murray and Bez from the Mondays have both said they will stand against Farage.
So anyway - that's the traffic news from Kent
