Bombed out!

I've been to Liverpool today, to take youngest son for his regular eye check up. So whilst we were there we decided to check out parking around the Liverpool Philharmonic as I am taking mum to a concert there in February.

We then went to on to search out St. Luke's Church, which we had been told is a derelict site. You'd be extremely hard pressed to spot it immediately, as a ruin, as it is such a beautiful building!
The first stone was laid in 1811 but laterly it was bombed during one of the wars. If you are interested to read more, you can at www.stlukeliverpool.co.uk.

If you look closely at the windows of St. Lukes you can see daylight straight through to the opposite side. Although this shot doesn't show it, you might be surprised to know that there is absolutely no roof remaining on any of the structure.

Sadly most of my Derelict Thursday contributions seem to be of beautiful buildings that have just been left to go to ruin. St. Lukes is slightly different as the site is looked after, and the inner space used occassionslly. Some money was raised to restore the clock in the tower, as it can be seen from miles around........but sadly that is the extent of any restoration I think.

Lastly sorry for the lack of links in this post.......if anyone wants to take a little time to email me some foolproof directions of how,to,include them, whilst using an iPad, i would be over the moon! I have had a couple of blippers who've given me some direction in their blip responses but they have got lost in translation (when things changed!) maybe via an email if anyone is willing :-)
