Pie! A New Year's Resolution?
I believe in making New Year's Resolutions. There years ago, I set a goal of turning off the TV and reading a book a week. I didn't quite read 52 books, but at 47 books, I was satisfied.
It was a Resolution that got me going on Blipfoto two years ago. Last year, I started walking and walking and walking and ended up walking across England on the Coast to Coast, a 197 mile trek.
My resolutions have stayed with me. I'm still reading, I'm still walking and I'm still taking pictures. Consistently. I don't meant to brag. It's just that these things have become my way of life, have become part of my routine, have become something that I do.
I was reading an article about New Year's Resolutions and people who keep them. Some of the threads in the stories of people who kept their resolutions were creativity, personal growth, expression. One of the people who I read about baked a pie a week. He said he began to really enjoy the two hours a week when he made his pie. He made sweet pies, he made savory pies, he made pies that have gone out of fashion. 52 pies in all!
This story inspired me. While I'm still blipping, and I'm still reading and I'm still walking, why not make a pie a week? I've never been a pie baker but this was my effort today. Pretzel crust, peanut butter and cream cheese filling and a chocolate ganache on top.
