Whispering grass!

No idea what's going on with my sleep patterns at the moment....lay awake until after 2.30 again..... Guess must have dropped off after that! Our plans to get up and out early whilst it was still cold and frosty went out the window :-( . We have to wait in this afternoon for our heating engineer to come and flush the heating system through following his visit pre Christmas!

Hub said he didn't mind waiting, so I decided to pop out for an hour to our nearby Country Park, which is a premier bird watching site to see if I could capture anything exciting!

I chatted with some keen twitchers who told me that red wings had been spotted in the park. Then they mentioned a spot down by the river where a kingfisher had been seen....... well that was all it took! Off I went, following their directions, past the next hide, looking for a gate on the left, ssshhhh, approached as quietly as poss whilst looking for a wooden post sticking out of the water. Found it.......and almost simultaneously saw a turquoise flash in the sunlight, as the kingfisher flew down river away from me, oh flip, or words to that effect, guess I wasn't quiet enough :-(
I did hang around for 20/30 minutes but it was so cold stood still that I had to move on.

Having said to hub that I'd be an hour or so, some two hours later I thought I'd best make my way back to the car.

My boots and jeans were far more muddy than I had realised, luckily I had a packet of hand wipes in the glove box, otherwise my name would literally have been mud!

When I got back, thawed out and viewed my images, this is the one that we both plumped for, independently too :-)
