He went that-a-way......

I caught this heron in mid preening session, hence the head twist! 

It was a grey walk for me this morning, and quite eerie as the lake was frozen except for smallpockets around the edge.This meant the water birds were concentrated in these spots, leaving the rest of the lake empty.
