Flea market

I had terrible trouble choosing my one picture for today.

We started out the day by visiting the flea market in "El Rastro" area of Madrid.  It is enormous.  Really difficult to get a flavour in one picture.  We managed to resist buying anything, but partly because the sorts of things I would have liked to buy were impossible to transport home in hand luggage.

We then walked back to the hotel for a coffee, passing some excellent graffiti, and I also managed to get some shots of some little green birds - subsequently identified as Monk's parakeets.  We then headed up into the La Latino area to get a late lunch.  We actually planned to try a vegetarian restaurant we had seen advertised, but passed a paellaria en route.  We were disappointed by the menu in the vege restaurant, so went back to El Arrozal.  Good choice - superb paella, friendly service - a lovely end to our short break in Madrid.
