Just enough....

5years 90 days....

snow to satisfy the 5yr old who's not seen snow in nearly two years. It started snowing about half an hour after she went to bed last night. So I woke her up to show her as it was looking like it might not be there in the morning. But there it was!

I allowed 40 minutes to do our 15 minute walk to school and we still weren't early. She had a fabulous time! She stomped, twirled, threw, snowballed, ate, snow-angeled, crawled, ran. She even played on the snow-covered slide and swing at the park. She declared it the "best snow fun EVER". She had glorious fun. She remembered round the corner from school that she was in fact school bound, which didn't go down too well until she saw her friend and they both played together the rest of the way.

She was met at school by rather harassed-looking teachers, who were watching the 60 hyperactive foundation children and their snow clothes cram themselves into the cloakroom, the usual calm arrival system completely by the wayside.

When I arrived to pick her up, I asked Katie what was fun today at school - "Telly time" was the answer "but they wouldn't let us out in the snow because they said it was ice" followed. It had gone mushy and horrid by the end of school but we managed to find enough on the way home that she enjoyed it. We walked with our new next door neighbours which was nice as the children haven't met each other yet. Katie had a play in our garden when we got back; "Mummy, if I go down the slide and you throw snow at me, that would be fun".
