Snow
Our first real scattering of snow and still the wind. Ben Mhor in the distance on South Uist was looming large over the sea here on Benbecula.
Ferries have made it across today although the shops in many cases are still pretty bare. Electricity still on and off. Now I know why the tourist board advertise the Hebrides as Life on the Edge.
I made the pilgrimage to our peat on the moor today - going past a flock of Brent Geese on the way which are unusual here - hoping to find some nice dry stacks ready to burn and replenish our decreasingly small stack at home. Unfortunately most of them are still very definitely in the mud stage and so won't be contributing much to our warmth this winter. Looks like I'll have to get the saw out to the driftwood after all.
Reading this blip, it sounds like a moan. Not at all - we are lucky to be living in such an extreme place.
