Guitar Man

Each year there is a fundraiser for the Coastal Samaritan Counseling Center.  The event is a "soup cook-off," where about 40 organizations like church groups and restaurants prepare a large variety of soups, and guests are free to try any or all of them for a donation of $8.  There is also a variety of deserts donated by their makers.  I ate far too many small cups of soups (including 3 varieties of She-crab soup with a touch of sherry)  and a big piece of cake.   I voted for a stuffed green
pepper soup as my favorite.The fellow in the photo is a part of a 3 member group of instrumentalists and singers who entertained us throughout the event.  There are door prizes and a silent auction for baskets filled with many goodies like rounds of golf and meals at restaurants.  There is virtually no overhead, so all the donations go to provide payment for counseling services for those who can't afford them even on a sliding scale of charges.  Churches in our area take turns hosting the event.  I had the privilege of serving on the board of directors for the counseling center for 3 years ending about 4 few years ago.
