Ice on the Potomac

It isn’t often that we get just 4 inches of snow and it remains on the ground for many days.  Our temperatures have only just today gone above freezing, for the first time since it snowed on Tuesday.

We took a long walk along the canal towpath this morning and were surprised at how much ice was on the Potomac River.  This was taken at Riley’s Lock and looks across the river to Virginia.  This location is about 23 miles northwest of Washington D.C. in the Maryland suburbs.

Our team, the Baltimore Ravens lost their playoff game yesterday.  Number 4 son had taken himself and several pairs of thermal underwear to the game in Boston, so he experienced the disappointing loss first-hand.

Oh well.  It is only 37 days until Pitchers and Catchers report, and there’s still Basketball and Hockey to keep my boys happy.
