Longman area of Inverness, on a horrible wild and wet night. I was hanging back late at work, hoping it would ease. Thankfully, the rain did, but I had to walk across the bridge with the bike, and deploy the solitary ear plug. Such was the ferocity of the wind. Haven't had to do that in a while. According to the longer range forecast, today's gales are nothing compared to what's soon to come our way.
Once home, cleared up various bits of the old and knackered fencing, lest they take off in the forthcoming storm(s). Stacked it all by a sheltered side of the garage. Should dry out there, and then become decent fuel for the fire. Lids from the compost bins - stored in the garage. They'd ended up in various neighbours' gardens after the previous storms (over a year ago).
My reluctance to head out into the rain this evening, was largely due to a lunchtime soaking, when I'd walked over to the UHI Exec. Office, to collect some equipment we loaned via them. The cardboard box it was in, was wrecked by the time I got back. Whilst it kept the contents dry, the outside colours look to have transferred to my already tatty fleece. It wasn't the best attire for the conditions. Hat was very effective though.
Legs have all sorts of sore bits after the shock of getting back to cycling, combined with swimming on Monday, and a short run last night. Age is no doubt a factor too!
