Wake-up Call
I was awoken by the phone ringing: a call from Edinburgh. "Your garden's going to flood!" "You know what the weather's like in Cumbria?" "I got an FB message from S in Manchester!" "Really?" "Yes, her mum just phoned her from Greystoke!"
Well at the time of getting the call we had a dry garden, but by the time we finished the water was creeping in and by the time we had got dressed it was flowing through and out the other end!
This problem was supposed to have been sorted by the Environment Agency and the council last year!
Having done what we could to clear the offending grid of debris we made our way out with the cameras. It was now blowing a gale and starting to snow. We gave up that idea and went to do some work at the holiday lodge instead. By that time it was snowing hard then, suddenly, the sun came out!
At the hospital The Mother asked to be put in a wheelchair to be taken out. First time in 17 weeks I have taken her off the ward. We spent a few minutes in the hospital cafeteria, just for a change of scene. That would have been fine except that she thought she was off to an exhibition with stalls set out with things to buy!
