Tricia would be in heaven
For a confirmed candle-hater, it has not been a good twenty-four hours.
Just settling into some weedy TV - Death in Paradise in fact - thinking how good it was to be able to slob out and watch what one wanted on TV when suddenly the electricity goes out, comes back on for thirty seconds, goes out and comes back on again for ten seconds before dying long-term. I never will know who killed the rum plantation owner, although I suspect it was his son.
It took just under twenty four hours before it was fixed so almost the whole day has been lived under candlelight, other than a brief escape to a very windy Baleshare beach. Life therefore has been pretty gloomy. And chill as I haven't been keen on blasting up the Rayburn as the electric pump for the heating could not circulate the water from the back boiler and that would, presumably, then overheat and cause real damage.
You forget how much you rely on electricity. And then when it did come back on, I couldn't get the internet working. I suspect the winds - 113 mph at Stornaway the news said - has moved our satellite dish enough so that it can't access the internet. Happy days.
