Banks Peninsula Track second walking day

Today was our second and final day on the track.

It involved walking from Stony Bay, where we spent last night, to Akaroa, a walk of 16km, with some steep terrain through Hinewai Reserve.

Again there were hot temperatures (over 30C), so we started early.

As we neared Otanerito Bay we looked across in the early morning sun to see Pompeys Pillar, a huge sea stack which is an important landmark for sailors.

Our walk started two days ago, and there are details of the first night and first walking day starting here.
