Tall Bird in Long Grass

This is actually one of my favourite shots from 2014 - nothing rare, nothing dramatic but I just like it.

I saw this purple heron on my first morning out with Themba Mthembu, a top bird guide and all round great guy - if you're ever thinking of going birding in Zululand you really need to get in touch with him.
