Rats!

Glancing out of the window at the bird feeders, we noticed that there were non-avian animals helping themselves.  Three rats were climbing over each other to try to get at the peanuts, and then a fourth appeared and joined in.

We've seen a couple of rats getting ever bolder about picking up spilt bird food off the grass beneath the feeders, and weren't naive enough to suppose that there wasn't a rat or two about - especially as our neighbours keep chickens.  But to see four of them up a tree in broad daylight was a bit of a surprise.
