Only in Yorkshire...

This shop is a favourite in Malton; we call it the dog-collar-and-string-shop. It's a treasure trove of weird and wonderful rural appurtenances and country paraphernalia: panic hooks, shepherd's crooks, boots, things for holding in prolapses in ewes, hay nets, welding gloves, cloth caps and all manner of things I don't know the use of and don't like to ask.

There's usually one small window display given over entirely to different sorts of string - and that's more interesting than it sounds.
