Merry Christmas!

Today is Christmas according to the original Julian Calendar.
My Mom's family is Austrian Hungarian (now commonly known as Slovakia). She was raised in the Greek Catholic Church which followed the Julian Calendar.
So, growing up, we had two Christmas celebrations.
We used to tease Mom that her Christmas had a frugal Santa because the gifts we received were "small". We typically received candy, books, crayons, water colors, etc.
There were always special foods and special traditions.

[Quick note- Mom received the epidural shot today. Now we wait to see if it worked- it would be a wonderful Christmas gift! I am praying for her...]
