Pod

Two of my daughters live in Manchester and it takes me about an hour and a half to drive down to them. Another one lives in York, which is a two hour drive but seems a lot further. So, when it came to driving her back to university, today, I found myself thinking that it might be nice to stay over rather than driving there and back in a day.

I mentioned this to the Minx who went straight into action and found us a place to stay on a farm just three miles outside the city. The farm actually has a campsite, which wouldn't appeal to me particularly under normal circumstances but certainly not at this time of year, but they also have seven or eight "pods".

The pod is similar inside to the shepherd's hut and converted fire truck that we've stayed in, if a tad roomier. And even though it was a very cold night, the oil heater inside kept us warm. I guess we could have gone back out but as it was we stayed in with our books, a little picnic and a couple of bottles of wine. Perfect :-)

Incidentally, I know this is not a great photo. However, I've been ignoring my "daily" camera in favour of the iPhone of late and I wanted to make use of it today and do something I couldn't do with the iPhone. So this is a bit of an experiment with a high ISO and short aperture. (I think that's the correct technical description. I'm sure someone can put me straight!)
