Orange Roofer in Paris Fog
Fog lingered long over Paris this morning, and I took numerous shots from our various perspectives. This was the only close-up, however, taken just before 11:00. These two workers are perhaps 75 meters away, on the roof of a three-story building, so we look a bit down on them from our fourth-floor window. I have no idea what they were doing, but a few minutes after this shot they were gone. The buildings appearing faintly in the background also have three stories.
Here's an earlier, much broader view which includes this much narrower angle--the roof the workers are on is a small one quite far right, just above the third roof in the row in the foreground.
JE SUIS CHARLIE -- The ghastly attack on the satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo in Paris dominated the news here today. It took place roughly when I captured my blip this morning. Among the 12 dead are the heart of the editorial staff and two policemen who died tryiing to protect them. Protestors across Europe are massing with placards saying simply, "Je Suis Charlie," I am Charlie.
The worst terrorist attack in Paris for decades, this was against free expression The recent attack on the school in Pakistan was against education -- those are the two things these terrorists hate most.
