A Small Sample...

This is not my best shot today by a long way, but it will show you why I keep returning to the estuary day after day.

In this very small area are 5 different types of birds all feeding in close proximity. From left to right are pied stilts, spoonbills, ducks, godwits (all the way from Alaska for their summer holiday) and just to the left of the lead spoonbill is a spur wing plover. A short distance away, just out of camera range, was a heron, an oyster catcher and 2 seagulls.  The tide had just turned and is rich in food for the birds. I saw 2 fish and an eel caught in a short space of time. 

I love bird life - is it any wonder I keep returning.
