St Swithun upon Kingsgate
Again looking for light on a very grey day, I thought as I was in town I'd blip one of my favourite Winchester spaces, the church of St Swithun-upon-Kingsgate. It is actually built onto the top of Kingsgate, one of the medieval gates into the City. Pilgrims once used it to give thanks for their safe arrival, before going into the equally old hall next door to get their dole of bread and find a place to rest. So although tiny, the church was once a bit of a hub.
As you can see from this, it's still used for services and some visitors do find it, but a lot don't. It's a good place to go for a bit of peace.
Enjoy your evenings and talk a bit later, lovely friends xx
