Wednesday, December 31, 2014 Marilyn & Jim

These are dear friends of ours. Marilyn & Jim are their names, but they go by the nicknames of MaryLou & Bender. We've known MaryLou for years and years. We met Jim after he became MaryLou's husband some 12 years ago now.

They had both experienced the loss of a spouse due to cancer. Marilyn knew Jim's wife through their connection in Weight Watchers. Together they helped each other through the grief of death.

So currently, they are returning to Seattle area after coming to southern California to enjoy Christmas with their family. When Christmas was over they headed to Las Vegas for a few days. When they made their plans, they realized that they had a couple extra days after Las Vegas, so asked us if we'd be on the Central Coast because they wanted to stop to see us. 

They actually arrived here last night after driving most of the day from Las Vegas. After they checked into their motel, we enjoyed dinner with them. Then we met them this morning for breakfast -- we drove them to Morro Bay to eat at Dorn's Restaurant. It is one of our favorite breakfast places. After our meal, we drove around showing them the sights. Then we left them at their motel with plans to see them in late afternoon as we walked the pups to the beach. Then we all walked to our place.

Once we got to our place, we watched the 90-minute sunset show from our front windows and then we all had dinner plans. Spending the last two evenings of 2014 with these two was very enjoyable. 

They will leave first thing tomorrow morning and we won't see them. Their next stop is San Francisco to see some friends. Their goal is to be back to their place near Seattle on Saturday evening becauseJim reports back to work on Monday and he'd like a day home before resuming his routine.
