Vicars' Close, Wells

Vicars' Close, built in the mid 14th Century, is reputed to be the oldest purely residential street in Europe with all its original buildings intact. At this end, nearest the cathedral, you can see the steps leading to the bridge which gave the Vicars Choral direct access to the Chapter House of the cathedral where they were required to chant the service 8 times a day.

We took a walk around Wells this morning with our friend Chris before she set off back to London this afternoon.

Managed to back blip for the last couple of days, having got rather behind lately.

A belated Happy New Year to all!
