All is Quiet on New Years Day
Well it is now but it certainly was not last night.
We spent most of the day setting up in the village hall, all of our gear, a stage borrowed from the school, lights, bits of PA and other bits and bobs kindly loaned by other people.
After a slight technical hitch with the PA (some idiot had the inputs the wrong way round ;)) we had a quick sound check with the help of another fine villager (Ian) who has been in proper bands and who ran our desk for us and made a great difference to the sound.
Time then slowed down....... we got back to the hall at about 7:15 and by the time we went on at 9:15 if felt like 3 weeks had passed.
The first set went well (from a me making mistakes point of view) and the audience seemed to like it, we then had a quick break and went back on opening the second set with the finger stretching Mr Brightside. They loved it (well they jumped about like people loving it) and danced their little socks off for the rest of the night.
We had another break for New Years Eve and then in a fit of stating the obvious finished the evening with three more songs starting with U2 New Years Day....Which might be my new favorite song.
It was all great fun, lots of people came and seemed to have a good time, we sang happy birthday to Stan, had an impromptu Scottish sing along, gave out badges and shared a lot of love with a lot of very lovely people.
Even my finger held out, although it looks a bit sorry now, I'll mend it later.
I'm wondering if I should suggest we do it again next year (the party, not slashing my finger)...
Happy New Year blippals, I hope 2015 is a brilliant year.
