Guns and Explosives
Having your own personal firework display is still a big thing in Texas. I have no doubt I will find a swimming pool full of spent firework casings when I wake up in the morning.
Sale of fireworks is banned in Houston city limits however, and so those who want to circumvent the law have to pop outside the city boundary and buy fireworks. We live just on the outside of the boundary so just down the road there are two firework stands. They are open for the two weeks before Independence Day and the two weeks before New Years Eve.
Anyway here are a couple of kids getting their haul. I hope they have a safe evening with them. At least it is better than the firing of guns to bring in the New Year which is also prevalent around here. If we sit on our balcony tonight to watch some distant displays we will no doubt be treated to the sound of gunfire as the bells ring. (or as we say here "The Ball Drops")
Stay safe all y'all and a Happy New Year to all the world over. At least those that think this is the date of the New Year. See you on the other side. (Did we already do that?)
I leave you with a song.
