High Flying Bird

It was another poor photographic day in Houston.  They are forecasting this miserable, cold, grey weather to last until the 10th of Jan.  UGH!

We have to get away from it so have just purchased some flights home to the UK for the second half of January.  I know I can guarantee brilliant sunshine there.  As a bonus we will get to see family and friends.

Anyway today I managed to brave it onto our balcony for about 10 minutes to see a Red Tailed Hawk fly past on the way to building its nest.  It was a long way away but was at least it was clearly identifiable. 

To give you a sense the trees it is flying over are over 100 feet high and not even in our subdivision.  You can clearly see the twig it has selected for its nest though.  Not sure why it was that twig when they are all over the place at this time of year.  I guess it just matched the aesthetic it was trying to create.

I think this one deserves a song to go with it.
