TRIM phone

This is my new telephone purchased in the sales. It is a replica TRIMphone, a model of telephone designed in 1964. TRIM standing for Tone Ring Illuminator Model, as these were the first phones to have an electronic ringer rather than the usual bell and also an illuminated dial. I would have been very fashionable to have this phone when it was first released 50 years ago. I would have had to rent it then rather than buy it and at first they were only available in London and in plain colours (bright colours becoming available during the 1980s).
I often meet people now who don't even have a home phone anymore because they have a mobile phone, I bet that would have been unimaginable in 1964! :)
