Nature's Veins
Most often than not, winter brings a certain kind of depression that is hard to shake off. Most especially when you are somebody who have lived 99% of your life in a tropical climate. However, winter also brings out how most people from the tropical countries dont see...the beauty that is hidden behind leaves of trees.
Take the trees in this photo for instance. The intricate growth of it's branches is a beauty to behold only when leaves have already fallen completely. It may bring about eerieness around the surrounding but it also allows us to see clearly thru the skies. When i first came in the UK in the middle of winter, the ignorant in me thought that most trees are dead because they all lost their leaves. A look of a dead tree when you see one when you're in the Philippines. But then a flatmate corrected me that they are perfectly alive and that they lose their leaves during winter. Of course I knew that (from books, that is) but I cant help but think that they were dead at that instant. It was a little bit disconcerting to have actually seen another state of a tree which looks dead but is actually not. After three years of living here in the UK, I have come to know the beauty of the temperate climate. It would be a nice thing to have shared this with my family :) Especially my mom :)
