Portuguese Cannon on Calton Hill
It was a nice morning so I thought I would catch a blip before the sun went away! I went back to Calton Hill which is a strange mix of monuments! This 15th century brass cannon with Royal Arms of Spain on its barrel is the last thing you would expect to find on an Edinburgh hill. It appears to have been captured by the Burmese at some point and then captured by the British during the Anglo-Burmese Wars. The cannon was presented to the City of Edinburgh and placed on Calton Hill in 1887.
