Everyday I Write The Book

The Big Cheese

First off was a trip to Waitrose to collect the turkey and a few other things. Even at 8am the middle classes were getting tetchy. If a riot does ever break out in Surrey it'll be because of a queue jumping incident at Christmas.

Then TSM, Top Gun and I went up to London for a walk down the South Bank to Borough Market, stopping at Tate Modern for coffee and toast. The objective was the purchase of cheese, an annual tradition; we visited several stalls and bought a good cross section but my favourite was from an Italian stall run by a really friendly Sardinian guy.

We had a very decent pint of Adnams in an old pub 'round Bankside way and headed back as the clouds got bigger and greyer. Met The Dizzle on his break from work to do a bit of last minute shopping. When we got home we curled up on the settee and fell asleep over Nigella and Hugh doing Christmas cookery, town and country style. Now planning a light supper and a bit of preparation for the big day ...

This is what I love about Christmas - time with the people you love. Only bummer is The Girl Racer has flu out in Canada but is being well looked after, hope she gets better soon. Perhaps we should send her some nice cheese to cheer her up ...
