York Minster Advent Crown and Rose Window

We decided to go  to York Minster last night to attend the service of Carols and Nine Lessons. It was the first time I've attended a service at the Minster and it was a special evening. At the start of the service all of the choir and all the attendants and clergy all processed through the Nave while a single choir boy sang the first verse of Once in Royal David's City.

It was very good being able to sing carols with such a large audience and in such a magnificent building.

Before the service started I had a quick walk around and I liked this view of the Advent crown above the alter, with the South Transept and the mighty Rose Window beyond. The Transept and window were nearly destroyed by fire back in 1984.
