Christmas Cheer
After a busy day, I managed to pop along to the local shops to buy the last special Christmas cards for the family . . . and to catch the post with those we had already written.
Shopping is never ever a real pleasure for me at this time of year, largely because the streets and shops are always hectic with people like me trying to catch up on last minute supermarket shopping for things I think we might need, but in reality we don’t, or being pressured to buy presents that any other time of year, I would not entertain.
But I was delighted to see how well the local shopkeepers and businesses have responded to the festive spirit in the nearby towns of Totton and Romsey. This Christmas tree erected on a roundabout at the junction of two busy commuter routes gave me a lift and a warming feel that I do really like Christmas after all.
Even though that other tree in the nearby supermarket which I have featured before, reminded me that there were now only eight sleeps left till the big day.
That means precious few shopping days to get my act together!
