Mr Kat gave us a bit of fright last night. He'd not been seen since Sunday morning, which is unusual and hadn't turned up at feeding time on Sunday night or Monday morning - which is unheard of.
We probably wouldn't have been too worried if it hadn't been such a wet and windy night on Sunday. When he hadn't shown his face by Monday lunchtime Ru decided to go look for him. He had poked around in various corners when he spotted the other cat, Slinky, heading in through a hole in one of the locked cattle byre doors. Ruairidh followed Slinky in to find Mr Kat curled up in a corner looking very sorry for himself.
At first we thought he was just tired, cold and weary but after an hour or so when he hadn't perked up a bit, wouldn't touch food or water and was starting to breathe very fast or so we decided we best get him checked out. By the time we got to the vet Mr Kat had a a temperature of 105° and a wheeze in his chest that sounded like a rusty gate creaking in the wind. Couple of injections later the poor wee soul was tucked up in a warm corner of our porch and we crossed our fingers.
A few hours later he was eating and drinking, fever had broken and he sat there looking a little bit confused but much better than he had done.
This morning he was still sleepy but eating happily and much more alert.
This afternoon... he is hatching cunning cat plots to find his way in from the porch to the house. Not happening Kat, tomorrow it's back to the wild open spaces for you.
