Mind your head

Something I have been trying to do recently.

My walk today was a get fitter power walk. As always, I find such exercise much more enjoyable if driven along by loud rock music in my headphones. When I used to run a lot (* decades ago) I tried to accelerate up hills. I have taken to doing that when out walking quickly i.e. when not encumbered by a heavy Digital SLR etc. Today, just as I got to the bottom of the steep hill on the walk, this Judas Priest song came on the random shuflle thingy on my phone. I managed to climb the hill walking in time to this, at a pace about 15% faster than was comfortable.

Then later, one of my favourite songs by the original 1960s Fleetwood Mac came on. Opinions differ about the meaning of the song. I prefer the obvious one - that Green Manalishi refers to money. The song writer, singer and brilliant guitar player, Peter Green, was at the end of his tether after a hugely successful few years, brought down by fame, fortune - and drugs.

Now, when the day goes to sleep and the full moon looks
The night is so black that the darkness cooks
Don't you come creepin' around - makin' me do things I don't want to

Can't believe that you need my love so bad
Come sneakin' around tryin' to drive me mad
Bustin' in on my dreams - making me see things I don't wanna see

'Cause you're da Green Manalishi with the two prong crown
All my tryin' is up - all your bringin' is down
Just taking my love then slippin' away
Leavin' me here just tryin' to keep from following you
