Cameo

April snow showers and May winds are bringing out flowers despite themselves. Grass is green on our street though the ash trees are exhibiting their customary reticence in leafing out. Pink is the colour that shows up first in our yard against the dry bare winter branches and matted leaf litter. First the Nanking cherry hedge and then this long suffering and often moved flowering plum. Along the edges of the front beds the moss phlox picks up the pink idea and runs with it. The sprinkles of pink caught me by surprise this morning after a weekend away.

I pressed the button and hoped that the ISO and shutter speed settings were quick enough to snap this before the wind whipped it away. Yay!
