Well it's been a long time coming but tomorrow I'm off to Darlington for a few days.

To the International Fire Training Centre for an intensive fire fighting course to be precise.

The reason I needed my contact lenses is because I'll be wearing a B.A. set and full chemical suit part of the time and I've been told it will get extremely HOT!

So you don't want any metal touching bare flesh!

It's My Girls birthday on Wednesday, she'll be thirteen! (been there, done that, got the t-shirt)

I initially thought I wouldn't be back in time for her big day but after last minute cock ups adjustments to the schedule, I will now be back for her birthday, albeit in the evening but better late than never!

I've never missed her birthday yet, so I'm glad I can continue that tradition.

And hopefully there'll be a slice of cake kept aside for me too :)
