inspired by a celebration

Cumbria Wildlife Trust were celebrating their 50th birthday. We arrived rather late in the afternoon.It had obviously been a hive of activity. We still had time to speak to the beekeepers, meet a wise old barn owl but we missed the pond dipping, spoon carving and face painting.

We joined a friend in the cafe for tea and cakes. Here, they were still in full swing. Children with creamy faces were queuing up for a second meringue - and who could blame them! There was plenty to chose from, including a slice of the last of what must have been a glorious birthday cake.

No, I was very restrained. I had a ginger biscuit!
