The Wren

Last day of relaxation

The sea was still relatively calm while we cruised the English channel and it was fascinating to watch the large amount of traffic moving along the two shipping channels, although we seemed to be in our own pathway - probably as we were not passing through all the way but making a detour into Southampton.

It needed a bit more effort to go for a walk around the deck as it required going down to the cabin to find a fleece and hat to put on! Nonetheless it was done and the walk was very invigorating. Further to a comment yesterday, it would be very easy to gain a lot of weight on a cruise and so I have tried hard to take plenty of exercise and never used the lifts once. This entailed frequent journeys from deck 4, where the cabin was, to decks 7 to 11 where much of the daily activity was. Also the food on offer, while plentiful, was varied and it was relatively easy to eat extremely well but still healthily. So I am hoping the scales won't shout too much ..... Although I accept they will groan a little!

This afternoon I treated myself to an hour long's session of Thai reflexology. The blip is taken from the spa treatment room which looked directly over the sea from number 11 deck and it was very tastefully decorated with orchids and other fragrant bits and pieces. The young Thai lady was delightful and although she had tiny hands she was able to use them incredibly effectively and, for example, was even able to pick up on the fact that my eyes caused me trouble from a particular point on one of my toes! It was a wonderful and totally relaxing experience for the final day of the cruise.

Suitcases were packed before dinner, to be left outside our cabins at the end of the day for a porter to collect them during the night where they would then be taken to the departure hall at the terminal once we have docked tomorrow!
