West Lake
First day in Hangzhou
Spending mostly around the beautiful and famous West Lake. But before we could do that, we went to the train station to get tickets for our trip from Shanghai to Xi'an. Also we needed to change our tickets to Shanghai, because we want to arrive a day earlier. Peter again helped us with some translation and explained how we could go to the station.
We stood in line at the train station for about an hour, which was totally worth it since the nice lady behind the counter could speak English! So we got our tickets relatively easy and had lunch at a Chinese equivelant of fastfood, a place called KungFu.
Hangzhou is famous for its amazing Westlake, which we went to visit after the whole train ticket adventure. We had a very long walk around the water, about 12 km. It was stunning. We enjoyed it very much, our feet: not so much. We stopped at the occasional bench that was free to have a rest, and of course the occasional Starbucks as well. Once for Beth to drink something, once for me to use the bathroom.
During our laketour a lot of Chinese people starred at us and made pictures. Even more then we already gotten used to. We even got serenaded at from a passing boat. Welcoming us to Hangzhou and singing that we were beautiful. This definitely made our day.
