Our Beach

Last few days I've been a bit off. So slept in this morning. Did actually wake early enough to see the sun as a big orange ball a few degrees above the horizon, and was moderately pleased with a shot from the doors onto the deck through the tress towards Kawau Island.

Agenda reading all morning. Yay; fun fun fun! Midday I went out for a walk, with the intention of walking all along the edge of the bay. Forgot that it would be high tide, and finished up just walking around within the Highfield Reserve.

From the lookout at the point between Our Beach and Algies Bay, I looked down and was taken with this view. On the bit of sand in the lower left are some orange rocks, deeply embedded in the sand. Those rocks are where we always used to put our towels when heading into the water, as straight out from there there are few rocks on which to stub one's toes when walking out for a swim.

Just past the trees bending over the sand can be seen a pile of rubbly rocks; that is where the path comes down from the cliff top and the road above.

Further along, there appears to be very recent slip of clay and rocks from the cliff face. The twisted branches and trunks just this side of it were there from an earlier slip. The rocks heading out towards the flat rocks at the point separating Snells Beach from Our Beach are seen right at the far end of the sand.

When the pohutukawa flowers are out this is a very colourful scene.
