coming up for air

This isn't the picture I expected to get today - I've been to Rousham House to the beautiful landscape garden. But instead of the walled garden or the dovecote, the rill or the statuary, I bring you - well. is it a newt? That's what I presume it is but hope that blippers can confirm or correct me.
It was a great way to start a Saturday, and regulars will be disappointed to learn that I have not yet painted the shed, even though it was on my weekend wishlist of things to do!
